Should You Use Plyometrics As Cardio?
Should you use plyometrics as cardio?
We see this quite often as many proclaimed “online coaches” and group fitness instructors program and advocate the use of plyometric exercises such as box jumps, burpees, squat jumps, and more for cardio.
Here’s why we disagree with that notion. They create and instill faulty movement patterns that can negatively affect your resistance training. They also are easy to “cheat” on and though may look flashy do not create the same stimulus and/or intensity as other forms.
Leave plyometrics for power and strength development generally done in conjunction with near maximal effort to elicit a post-activation potentiation effect.
